Hello, my name is Yi Yuan. I like your post very much. Your description reminds me of my first painting class, I cared more about technique than ideas. I tried very hard to draw a plant, but I found that my teacher cared more about my imagination about plants. It’s doesn’t matter about how they looked like plants. Collage activity is really a good way to help students expand their idea and make student build their own thinking ability. I suggest you add some interactive activities, such as students can sharing ideas together. Or you can set up a public web page, and each student can see their classmates’ works, mutual comments will help them. For English language learners, I recommend Language reactor. It can have live captions and translations, and works on YouTube and Netflix. I think English learners will love this.
